German Tuners Transform a Mercedes Vito Into an Adventure 4×4 Van

There are a lot of tuning companies that specialise in modifying luxury and high-performance cars, but fewer of them work on buses and vans. One of those companies, Vansports, specialises in vans almost exclusively and offers styling, off-road, and other unique upgrades. The Mercedes-Benz Vito has received visual and hardware upgrades in one of Vansports’ most recent projects. (http://rxreviewz.com/)

The Vito is one of those models that we don’t really talk about all that much because our audience is interested in and attracted to so many other Mercedes products. But if you have a Vito and want to give it a more outdoorsy appearance, Vansports’ newest kit has the solutions. The model, known as Geotrek Edition, is based on an all-wheel-drive Vito with a diesel engine.

Some of the changes ought to be obvious to you right away. For instance, the suspension now uses brand-new springs and unique off-road shock absorbers. The trademark matte bronze or matte black 18-inch wheels (as shown in the photos) are shod with 235/55 General Grabber all-terrain tyres. The engine and other parts are better protected during off-road trips by front and rear underride guard panels.

Unfortunately, Sportsvan doesn’t offer interior images, despite the fact that we know this is a camper van based on the official press release. Thanks to the lifting roof and a fully furnished living area, the German company guarantees “a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience all year round.” The van includes stationary heating, a compressor cool box, an outdoor shower, a sink, and a big battery—everything you’d need to live off the grid.

A stock 2.1-liter twin-turbo diesel engine drives the Vito Geotrek Edition. This Mercedes engine is among the most resilient ones, and it produces a respectable 190 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 325 pound-feet (440 Newton-meters) of torque. Power is distributed to all four wheels via an all-wheel-drive system and a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

According to Vansports, the car in the gallery above is currently for sale. The customer’s preferences can be taken into consideration when changing the wheel’s colour. There isn’t a price listed, though.
