MG Motor Hits One Lakh Sales Milestone In India

MG Motor India stated today that it has sold 1,00,000 vehicles in India. The Hector midsize SUV from the British automaker owned by China’s SAIC made its debut in the Indian auto market in 2019. The Hector, dubbed the country’s first Internet SUV, had a fantastic reception from buyers.

MG introduced the ZS EV and India’s first Level 1 autonomous capable SUV, the Gloster, riding on the wave of enthusiasm, and it was followed by the Astor late last year, which added personal AI assistant and Level 2 autonomous technology to the table. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), it also ranks second among four-wheeler mass-market vehicles in terms of dealer satisfaction.

MG Motor India has effectively integrated 37% of female employees into its workforce, including the factory, and plans to reach 50% by December of next year. The company claims it is dedicated to creating an end-to-end EV ecosystem in India by expanding charging opportunities and educating users about the benefits of electric vehicles.

The MG factory in Halol, Gujarat, employs about 2,500 people and has an annual production capacity of 80,000 automobiles. While Hector established the tone for MG, the Astor drove it forward by posting excellent bookings within months of its market launch, and the facelifted ZS EV followed in March.

It has a 44.5 kWh IP67K Lithium-ion battery pack that produces 176 horsepower and 353 Nm. It claims to have a range of up to 461 kilometers on a single charge. As part of increasing its zero-emission portfolio this fiscal year, MG is more likely to debut a new electric vehicle in the Rs. 10-15 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
