The Finest Vintage Cars At The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2021

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has been a great showcase for new concepts as well as well-maintained vintage cars. As its name states, this automotive charitable event is held each year on Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. The event was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but it has returned in full force for its 70th year.

Many automakers unveiled concept cars to gauge the reactions of customers. Enthusiastic people drove their elegant vintage cars in downtown Monterey, California. In total, there were 230 cars at the event. Today, we will take a look at the best vintage cars from the show:-

1. 1896 Riker Electric Roadster

More than a century before Tesla popularizing the electric car trend, several makers experimented with an electric-powered car. Riker was one of such manufacturers. The single-seat EV roadster comes with tiller steering as well as a coil-over suspension for both axles. It gets power from Riker’s patented 3 HP Riker Electric Motor combined with five 8-volt batteries.

2. Mercedes Benz 300 SL

While its modern counterpart, the SLS retained its gullwing doors while improving wildly on performance; the 300 SL is still an appreciable classic. Both roadster and coupe models have been a great showcase of tech that Mercedes Benz offered at that time. Both Mercedes Benz Classic and private collectors showcased their 300 SL models at the Pebble Beach event.

3. 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible

Aston Martin is kinda synonymous with Bond, James Bond. What he drove was a hardtop variant of DB5. But the convertible version looks cool too. Only 123 of such models were made and five of those came with Vantage spec. This makes the Pebble beach starring car one of the rarest.

4. 1929 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix

This 1929 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix won the Chairman’s Trophy at the show. It is globally recognized as one of the most successful racing cars of all time. It dominated races throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Exceeding the auction value, it sold for $5,615,000. This set a new record sale price for the model.

5. 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn Kurier

Saving the Best for the last, here’s the Winner of the 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This 83-Year-old car is surely a showstopper. Its 5.4-litre engine generates 180 HP. Its top speed is 115 mph. Only two such models were built and this one is the sole survivor. It got a restoration treatment in 2006 and since then it has been competing in various competitions.
