The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is entering its 70th year in 2021. The event got cancelled last year because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. It is like Mecca for Automotive Enthusiasts. Many Brands showcase their modern concept models to gauge the reactions of customers. Whereas some private collectors like to showcase their vintage cars at the show and compete for the ‘Best Car of The Show’ Award.

In the last article, we talked about the best vintage cars in the show. This time we will see the best modern cars showcased by various brands in the Concours d’Elegance 2021. Multiple brands like Acura, Audi, Bugatti, etc. showcased their cars at this event. Some of these are concepts, while some are production models. Let’s check them out:-

1. Audi Skysphere

The Audi Skysphere is one of the three modern ‘Sphere’ EV concepts that the company will showcase over the next few months. It is a two-door convertible developed around the principles of level-4 Autonomy. Its rear-mounted motor generates 624 HP and 750 Nm of torque, which in turn provides the vehicle with a 0-100 kmph time of 4.0 seconds. The attractive feature of this car is Shapeshifter. This converts the car from a self-driving GT model which is 201 inches long to a traditional roadster/sports car which is shorter by 10 inches.

2. Genesis X Concept

Another concept car standing in front of the Skysphere concept is the Genesis X Concept. The Luxury marque of Hyundai Motor Company is sleek and harmonious. It builds upon the design language of Genesis. Its ‘Two-lines’ lighting motif was first seen on the G80 and GV80 models. Its looks make it a stunner to look at.

3. Mercedes-AMG GT R Speedster

Does this remind you of any similar model from Mercedes? Yes, I am talking about the SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. This modern concept is the follow-up of the iconic Sterling Moss. It features a quarter-height windshield with a structural carbon fibre brace that splits down the centre between passenger and driver. The speedster also comes with a helmet that matches the supercar.

4. Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept

Luxury goods retailer Shinola and Automotive Manufacturer Lincoln have one thing in common. Both have their roots in Motor City. So this collaboration didn’t seem odd to make. The Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept is the only SUV at the Pebble Beach Show. The collab also adds additional comfort level and American style to the Aviator. It gets copper accents, a soft white exterior and whiskey leather on the interior that take inspiration from Shinola. Lincoln hasn’t announced the plans to build one, but if they do; it will be one of the most luxurious SUVs on the market.

5. Gunther Werks 993 Remastered Speedster

Gunther Werks has a strong history of tuning the already cutting edge Porsche Sports Cars and making them poster-worthy for performance enthusiasts. Their latest 993 remaster has a reinforced chassis, counteracting the roof removal to lower rake windscreen and lowered seats helps to generate the ‘adrenaline rush’. Its naturally aspirated engine makes 435 HP and 335 pound-feet of torque.

6. Marc Philipp Gemballa Marsien

Another Porsche modification, this time a 992 911 Turbo S is the base car. The modern design takes inspiration from Paris Dakar Rally Era cars. Marc Philipp Gemballa is the son of famous Porsche aficionado Uwe Gemballa. The model gets a Carrera GT inspired centre console and the engine from RUF Automobile, which is also famous for its custom Porsche models. It combines the styling of a classic street racer with the underpinnings of a Dakar Rally Competitor.

7. Bugatti Bolide

A production hypercar with 1600 HP ?? Interesting. Only 40 examples of the Bolide will be made. It gets an 8.0-litre W16 engine which powers all four wheels. It weighs just 1450 kg. The Bolide can generate 1800 kg and 800 kg downforce on the rear and front wings respectively at the speed of 200 mph.

8. Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4

Thought the Aventador is gone? No. It now underpins the blast from the past, The Countach. The Legendary marque is making a return, and the Automotive world is giving mixed reactions. Like it or not, it is returning as a limited-series hybrid supercar. This modern avatar of the classic can go from 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds. The production is limited to 112 units. It costs $2.3 million. The design surely shows the design cues of the old model, except the spoiler…

9. Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition

Ford has chosen to pay a tribute to the original Ford GT prototype that made them the winner at Le Mans. This Heritage model is a limited-run edition built for the sole purpose. It features racing decals as well as exposed carbon fibre. It will be available to order in January next year for approved GT customers. The prices and production numbers haven’t been revealed yet.

10. Acura NSX Type-S

The final entry on our list is the final edition of a legendary car. The NSX Type-S is the last model for second-gen Honda/Acura NSX. Only 350 such models will be produced with improved suspension and exterior updates. This includes a revised front end and a new downforce-generating spoiler. It gets 19 bhp more than the standard NSX.
