2019 Corvette ZR1 Goes Full Mustang at a Florida Cars & Coffee Meet-Up

Ford Mustangs pulling away from auto shows in recent years have been best avoided. However, it might now also be wise to stay away from Chevrolet Corvettes after a 2019 ZR1 owner crashed while exiting an Orlando, Florida, Cars & Coffee event.

The in issue Corvette ZR1 has a bright Sebring Orange paint job and is decked out in a plethora of aftermarket components. There’s no question that the loves the vehicle, but at the event’s conclusion, he drove a little too eagerly and did something that only Mustang owners would be able to do.

As the driver of the ZR1 speeds past the guy filming in the first clip, he can be heard yelling, “Get it, bud, get it, bud!” The powerful sports car’s back wheels spin up as the driver slams on the gas, leaving the road covered in thick black lines. The rear of the vehicle originally begins to kick to the left, but abruptly veers to the right, probably as a result of the driver’s overcorrection. When the driver finally applied the breaks, it was too late.

The ‘Vette slams into the curb and a hedge on the side of the road before coming to a rest.

Although the extent of the damage is not immediately evident, the ZR1’s front fascia has sustained a great deal of damage. The back wheels have also been severely bent, and at least one of them needs to be replaced. The car’s undercarriage most likely sustained some harm as well.

The driver appears to have made the fatal error of disabling the traction control in addition to the apparent error of pushing the Chevy’s accelerator too hard. It is never a good plan to do so in a vehicle with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 755 horsepower. Heck, just a few years ago, GM President Mark Reuss lost control of a C7 Corvette ZR1.
