During 90’s when every competitor is in the race of making best SUV, Toyota is planning to introduce MPV in the Indian. Toyota Qualis MPV (multipurpose vehicle) becomes very perfect product for India because of its longer wheelbase and better suspension. This car is known for overall comfort and extra seating this car loved by many taxi as well big families.

The engine of the Qualis was rather humble. It did the job perfectly. The 2446 cc, 2.4 Litres, in-line, 4 cylinder engine needs no introduction. (Fandor.com) The engine generated 75 bhp power while churning out a torque of 151 Nm.

Despite its British origins, the Ambassador was considered as a definitive Indian car and was fondly called the “king of Indian roads”. Hindustan Ambassador is the pioneers of Sedan segment in India. This has a legacy to be in prime minister car fleet and most common Indian government servants.

The Hindustan Ambassador is an automobile manufactured by Hindustan Motors of India, with production from 1958 to 2014 with few improvements and changes over its production lifetime. The Ambassador was based on the Morris Oxford series III model, first made by Morris Motors Limited at Cowley, Oxford in the United Kingdom from 1956 to 1959.

Fiat Premier Padmini – Station Wagon

In 1973, a Mumbai based coachbuilding company introduced the Premier Safari paving the way for the station wagon segment. This is frist ever station wagon in India followed by HM Ambassador Estate, Tata Estate, Opel Corsa Swing, Maruti Baleno Altura etc.

Based on the Fiat 1100, or Premier Padmini as we know it, the Safari offered more space and practicality versus the sedan. There were issues with build quality though, as it was not factory finished, and the overall design had minimal aesthetic appeal. Powering this Estate was a 40-PS, 4 cylinder petrol engine.
