BMW CE-02: Made In India For The Rest Of The World

TVS recently announced that production of the BMW CE-02 electric motorcycle had begun at its Hosur plant. The German motorcycle manufacturer has not yet announced intentions to launch the CE-02 in India.

The BMW CE-02 is the Urban Monkey.
The BMW CE-02 is an electrified monkey bike that is ideal for city rides. It receives a highly industrial design, and the tiny size should make navigating rush-hour traffic a breeze. Wouldn’t that be great for our traffic situation?

The 11kW motor and 5.09 kgm of peak torque help its case as well. The 90 km claimed range from its 2 kW battery, on the other hand, may not be to everyone’s liking. However, because the battery is smaller, you can charge your CE-02 in under two hours and get back on the road.

BMW has chosen a 37mm USD fork and a monoshock to handle the suspension responsibilities on this electric bike, while disc brakes at both ends lower the anchor. Finally, unlike most bikes here, which have 17-inch wheels, this one has 14-inchers on both ends.

CE-02 Electric Bike India Launch

Though there are no hints of this electric bike coming to India, BMW Motorrad and TVS might just introduce it here for kicks and laughs. Because, the CE-02 is priced at an equivalent of Rs 7 lakh in the United States. The localisation would make it more affordable here, but even at half the price, it would still be an expensive proposition in a market like ours.
