Where do we even begin with this video, my friends? Yes, an inattentive driver in a Corvette convertible collided with the back of the Lexus. But that’s just one of several facepalm moments in this short Instagram video, which is included below for your viewing pleasure. Depending on how you feel about the C8 ‘Vette, you may sense joy or unhappiness.
The Instagram post comes from lsx.videos and appears to be rather straightforward. We have two individuals driving a C8 Corvette into the back of what appears to be a Lexus LX 570. Actually, there is only one guy in the Corvette, since the other is stationed on the backside of the C8 because seats are boring. Aside from the crash, that’s facepalm moment number two.
The third facepalm occurs near the beginning of the film, when the driver nearly knocks the passenger rider off the back with a quick acceleration burst. That could explain the distracted driver, who is checking behind to ensure his friend isn’t stuck to the road. It does not, however, explain why the car is driving on the shoulder between traffic and parked cars. Yes, that is the fourth gaffe in this drama, but the fifth and final gaffe is unrelated to the Corvette.
That accolade goes to the Lexus, which has come to a near-perpendicular stop in the road, with the front clearly visible across the double-yellow line. Oncoming traffic is stopped as a result of the manoeuvre, as is the car from which this video was obtained.
The SUV is actually backing up as the Corvette plows into it, leading us to wonder what crazy shenanigans are afoot here. In any case, the SUV’s big white backside was invisible to the C8 driver.
Fortunately, the collision was at low speed and it appears nobody was injured. We don’t see any obvious damage on the Lexus, but the ‘Vette’s front clip is well and truly smashed. Steam from the radiator indicates it’s not just cosmetic, either.
With so many motoring mistakes in the span of just a few seconds, some kind of collision was inevitable. Stay safe out there folks, but also, exercise some common sense. You’ll be amazed at how many dangerous situations are avoided simply by looking where you’re going.
