Kawasaki, the Japanese sports and superbike maker, is preparing to launch a redesigned and locally made version of its highly awaited Kawasaki Versys-X 300. Autocar India said that this motorcycle might be available before the end of the year. Kawasaki intends to give extensive localization for this already popular adventure motorbike. Recently, a prototype of the localized Kawasaki Versys-X 300 was observed testing in the nation.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300
When it is released, the new Versys-X 300 will be Kawasaki’s third model built in India. It will follow in the footsteps of the Ninja 300 and the W175. According to rumors, Kawasaki intends to exploit its local resources and production skills.
This will allow Kawasaki to optimise production costs. Furthermore, it would enable the corporation to offer competitive pricing in the price-sensitive Indian market. Previously, this bike was priced at Rs 4.6 lakh, which many thought was exorbitant.
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is the perfect adventure motorbike. It has a big windscreen, an aggressive front fascia, and massive side fairings. It also has an upswept exhaust and a lofty ride height.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300 Specs
In terms of technical specs, this motorbike will include a standard telescopic fork at the front. Meanwhile, the rear will receive a monoshock. The Versys-X 300’s braking system will have disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS.
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 will also include 19 and 17-inch spoked wheels with tubed tires. The total weight of this adventure motorbike will be around 185 kg. Additionally, it will have a ground clearance of around 180mm. The bike will benefit from its higher riding height and ground clearance.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300 Adventure Engine
The adventure motorbike will be powered by a powerful 296cc parallel-twin engine. This engine also powers the legendary Ninja 300. The Versys-X 300 will be powered by 39 horsepower and 26.1 Newton-meters (Nm). This powerful engine will be coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.
This forthcoming motorbike will be positioned in the 300-500cc adventure motorcycle category. Once released, the Versys-X 300 will compete with the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS. It will also take on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300 Price
Insiders predict that the Versys-X 300 would be priced competitively, between Rs 3.6 and Rs 3.9 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a major shift from its former exorbitant pricing of Rs 4.6 lakh. Most likely, the bike will compete with the bikes that are already prospering in the market.
In February of this year, Kawasaki introduced the 2024 Kawasaki Z900 in the country. The redesigned Kawasaki Z900 has been introduced at a price of Rs 9.29 lakh (ex showroom). This is 9,000 rupees higher than the previous model year bike.
