$15 Million 1 of 3 Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta Crash Head on into other Car

Out of Croatia, we have both good and bad news today. The image above depicts a mangled Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, but thankfully, no one was hurt in the crash that resulted in this sad scene. That is good news. The bad news is that an extremely rare Pagani has been severely damaged. And when we say extremely rare, we mean one of only three built.

The Zonda was taking part in the Supercar Owners Circle event in Croatia. We don’t know what caused the crash, but the video at the top of the page captures it in real time. An Apollo IE (also extremely rare) passes the camera, with the Zonda HP Barchetta close behind. None of the cars appear to be moving fast, but the back end steps out shortly after the Zonda passes. On a narrow road, a wide hypercar does not mix well with oncoming traffic, resulting in a nasty-looking collision.

According to our information, the crash occurred on September 2. Images and video clips have been circulating on social media; @AStopcars on Instagram. The photographer is Artur Shynkarov, who also captured video of the aftermath and shared it on Instagram, as seen below.

The Pagani appears to have sustained extensive damage, with the majority of the wreckage on the driver’s side. The impact ripped the rear suspension on the driver’s side completely out of the car, destroying both the front and rear wheel wells. The rear fascia is severely damaged, and this only scratches the surface. Who knows what damage lurks beneath the carbon body.

Being extremely rare, the Zonda HP Barchetta is also extremely valuable. The last we heard, the going rate was around $17 million so this is most decidedly a costly collision. Given the value and rarity, it’s hard to say what the hypercar’s future will be, but machines can be rebuilt. Human beings, not so much. So while this isn’t a good day, it could’ve certainly been worse.
