Porsche Macan EV is currently under development and likely to launch sometime in 2023 or 2024.

Porsche, Volkswagen’s sportscar brand, hopes to produce more than 80,000 units of the Macan EV, which is the same number as the SUV’s internal combustion engine variant. In an interview with Automobilwoche magazine, Porsche production chief Albrecht Reimold stated this. Porsche has been hinting at an electric Macan for several years and finally confirmed the vehicle in early 2021. It is scheduled to be released in 2023, making it a 2024 model.

According to Reimold, Porsche expects to produce the same number of units of its Macan electric model as the original with an internal combustion engine. “We produce over 80,000 units of today’s generation, and in the long run, we plan to produce the same number of all-electric Macans,” Reimold said.

The Porsche Macan compact SUV is one of the company’s best-selling models. Porsche’s only all-electric model to date is the Taycan coupe. The Macan EV will be added to the portfolio in 2023/24. The Porsche Macan EV is currently in the works. Several components of the electric SUV are shared with the Audi Q6 e-Tron. The Porsche Macan EV and Audi Q6 e-Tron will both be built on a new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) modular platform developed in collaboration with Audi. Various iterations of this architecture will underpin a wide range of Volkswagen Group models.

The prototype Porsche Macan EV has been spotted testing several times. Expect the vehicle to have the basic silhouette of a compact luxury SUV. However, as an EV, it will also feature some distinctive styling efforts. The most noticeable will be the removal of the front grille and the installation of a body panel in its place. It could have a small rear spoiler that extends from the tailgate at high speeds. The automaker is reportedly relying on both real-world and virtual testing to accelerate the development of the Macan EV, particularly to improve the EV’s aerodynamics.
