2022 Golf R And Cadillac CT4 V Take on BMW M240i Drag and Roll Race

The Volkswagen Golf R, Cadillac CT4-V, and BMW M240i are all thrilling sports vehicles. A new SamLegion YouTube film reveals which of the all-wheel-drive vehicles with turbocharged engines with between 300 and 400 horsepower is the drag racing prodigy.

The Volkswagen Golf R is the weakest link in the lineup. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor generates 310 pound-feet (420 Newton-meters) of torque and 315 horsepower (234 kilowatts). All four axles receive power from a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. But it weighs the least of the group by about 300 pounds (136 kilograms).

The Cadillac is slightly more powerful than the VW, featuring a larger 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. It makes 325 hp (242 kW) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque. It has a 10-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive.

The BMW M240i’s 3.0-liter inline-six turbo motor makes it the race’s powerhouse. The coupe’s two additional cylinders enable it to generate 382 horsepower (284 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. The power is then distributed to the wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The first standing sprint established the competition’s pecking order. The Cadillac moved out in front of the Volkswagen early, while the BMW had the best start of the group. The Cadillac, however, lost its second-place position and dropped to third place behind the Volkswagen. Both vehicles failed to overtake the BMW, which crossed the line far in front of the Golf R and CT4-V. The outcomes of the second and third events were identical. The robust M240i was too powerful for the equally potent CT4-V and Golf R.

The two rolling races, one at 32 mph (50 kph) and the other at 50 mph (80 kph), had no effect on the order of completion. Both times, the BMW won, with the VW coming in second. Although it finished third in both races, the Cadillac performed best in the 50 mph rolling race, finishing less than a car length behind the VW.

Even though automakers continue to produce crossovers and SUVs, it’s a great moment to be an automobile enthusiast. There are many options for consumers when it comes to fun-to-drive vehicles, including 300-horsepower hatchbacks, sports cars under $30,000, and turbocharged sedans with manual transmissions, to name a few.
