Bertone GB110 Debuts With Claimed 1,100 HP, Limited To 33 Units

Bertone is regarded as one of the greatest design houses of all time, having created iconic vehicles such as the Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos. Bertone recently unveiled the GB110 (centodieci), a brand-new supercar, to commemorate its 110th anniversary. The GB110 makes its debut with a ground-breaking (yet enigmatic) powertrain that generates 1,100 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque.

No additional information about the engine was shared besides the output (including cylinder count, displacement, or aspiration). Thanks to a collaboration with elect Fuel, we do know the vehicle will be equipped with some kind of ground-breaking new technology that enables it to run on gasoline made from recycled plastic. It sounds cool, but we await more information, and have reached out to Bertone to ask for more details.

Bertone hasn’t kept quiet about the GB110’s claimed performance despite the fact that we don’t know much about what powers it. According to the company, the vehicle has a top speed of 236 mph and can accelerate to 62 mph from a stop in 2.79 seconds, 124 mph in 6.79 seconds, and 186 mph in 14 seconds. For the most traction, power is sent to all-wheel drive through a seven-speed transmission (it’s unclear if it’s automatic or manual).

The vehicle, according to Bertone, has a wheelbase of 103.5 inches and complies fully with Euro 6. According to one of the pictures, the staggered 21- or 22-inch wheels are mounted at each corner with double wishbone suspension with coil springs and four-way adjustable anti-roll bars. The wheels are covered in Michelin tyres. The front tyres are 255/30, and the rear tyres are 335/25.

The GB110’s design is quite attractive, as one would expect from Bertone, but it is unlikely that it was created from scratch. Bertone claims that the chassis is built from components “from a German manufacturer,” but it’s not clear which manufacturer he means. Given its mid-engined proportions and similarity to the Lamborghini Huracan, we can only consider the Audi R8 as a potential donor. The GB110’s 8,400 rpm redline is not far from the 8,700 rpm redline of the R8. The V10 in the R8, however, has completely incorrect power ratings.

If that happens, there will be a problem because the Audi R8’s production will stop at the end of 2023.

Although nothing in these images resembles a finished interior design, it is clear that they are merely digital renderings. Several design sketches, however, depict two entirely different designs. Both of them have performance displays in front of the passenger, but neither one shows off a design that is close to being ready for production.

“The GB110 is continuing Bertone’s automotive legacy and is a contemporary interpretation of the Bertone DNA,” says project and design manager Giovanni Sapio. “It’s paying homage to pioneering Bertone designs from the 50’s and 70’s, merging the soft, rounded lines of the 50s with 70’s style sharp edges.”

Bertone only plans to build 33 units, with deliveries not slated to start until Spring 2024.

It may come from a well-known company, but we wouldn’t be shocked if this supercar fails to make it to customer hands like so many other exciting projects. If the GB110 is a success, Bertone says it will be the first in a series of limited edition cars.
