Evolution of Koenigsegg | 1996 to 2021 | Part-2

Part 1 of the evolution of Koenigsegg contained some of the most insane supercars built by them. But Part-2 will contain those cars that represent the success of the company in this decade. The Cars that broke the world record for being the fastest to cars with no transmission. Koenigsegg has built many limited-run cars that are popular amongst the supercar culture.

1. Agera

In 2010, Koenigsegg launched the Agera which means “To take action” in Swedish. The Agera is powered by an in-house 5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 960 horsepower. The car can go from 0-60 mph in less than3 seconds with a top speed of 250 mph. The Agera also won the Hypercar Of The Year award by Top Gear in 2010.

2. Agera R

One year after the Koenigsegg Agera, the Agera R was launched at the Geneva Motor Show. The car had many improvements including the engine, exhaust, etc. This car could also run on biofuel, which made it an environment-friendly car too. This supercar received a Genuis World record for achieving the fastest 0 to 300 to 0 kph in just 21 seconds. In total 18 of these models were ever made.

3. Agera S

In 2012 Koenigsegg released Agera S which was built for a market lacking E85 biofuel. The car had improved Hollow Carbon Fiber Aircore wheels which made it faster and easy to drive. In total, only 5 examples of these Agera S were ever made. Also, a special version called “Hundra” means a hundred celebrating Koenigsegg’s 100th car made.

4. Agera RS

The latest Agera model was the RS released in 2015. This car was a combination of the Agera R and the Agera S while using the latest technology features. In 2017 the Agera RS became officially the world’s fastest production car, with an impressive top speed of 278 mph. The Agera RS was handcrafted and only 25 examples were sold, for $2.5 million. In 2016 the production of Agera was officially ended.

5. One:1

Koenigsegg  cars

In 2014 the similar of the Agera R was announced, named the One:1. This car was the first approved production car in the world to have on megawatt of power making it the world’s first mega car. The name One:1 states one horsepower for 1 kilogram. The car had a top speed of 280 mph with insanely fast acceleration. Only 6 units were ever made, each for $2.8 million USD.

6. Regera

In 2015 Koenigsegg launched their first unconventional hybrid carn named the Regera. The Regera means “to rule” in Swedish. This car is equipped with Koenigsegg’s direct-drive mechanism which is a non-gear transmission system. With this, the car can reach a top speed of 250 mph in one gear. It was powered by three electric motors and a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine that produced 1,500 horsepower. This made it the world’s most powerful production car of 2015 and a world record to go from 0-400-0 kilometers per hour in 42 seconds.

7. Jesko

The Jesko is Koenigsegg’s current car which was launched in 2019. This car is named after Cristian Von Koenigsegg’s father Jesko who has a great contribution to the company. This car has a re-designed 5 liter twin-turbo V8 engine with advanced aerodynamics. These specs of the car like the top speed is not been revealed where only 125 units that will be made.

8. Jesko Absolute

This car is nothing but a Jesko with no wing that helped it in downforce. Instead, the car has straight fins which will help in high-speed stability. The company assures that the Jesko Absolute can reach a top speed of more than 300 mph or even 350 mph.

9. Gemera

The Gemera is Koenigsegg’s upcoming supercar with an amazing idea. This car has a small 2-liter engine that can run on volcanic fuel, also the CEO says that this car actually cleans the air. The car is also powered by 3 more electric motors that in combine will generate over 1600 horsepower. This will also be the 1st hypercar that will have four seats as well, it’s like a daily use hypercar/family car.
