The calendar year 2022 saw several new launches in the Indian market as automakers attempted to recover from the aftermath of the health crisis by introducing new models. The top ten newly launched cars and their sales performance in October 2022 are listed below.
Because the majority of them do not belong to the same market segment, the sales figures cannot be compared. Maruti Suzuki introduced the second generation Baleno premium hatchback earlier this year, and it sold 17,149 units last month, compared to 15,573 units in October 2021, representing a 10% YoY increase.
Its sibling, the Brezza compact SUV, received a significant update in the second half of 2022, and last month, 9,941 units were sold against 8,032 units, representing a 24% YoY increase in sales. The Brezza has been well received by consumers, thanks to a redesigned exterior and a brand-new interior with more premium features and technologies.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are two of the most anticipated 2022 vehicle launches. They share the same Global C platform, with Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5-litre K15C mild-hybrid engine and Toyota’s 1.5-litre three-cylinder Atkinson Cycle TNGA strong hybrid petrol mill.
Despite sharing many similarities and interior details, each has a distinct exterior. The Grand Vitara sold 8,052 units last month, while the Hyryder only sold 3,384 units. The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic sold 7,438 units in comparison to 3,304 units in the same period in 2021, representing a 125% increase in sales year on year.
The new Glanza sold 3,767 units, while the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus each sold 1,376 and 1,072 units. Hyundai’s Tucson sold 487 units compared to 119 for the previous model, representing a 309 unit increase year on year, while the Jeep Meridian seven-seater SUV sold 404 units.
