Wine is something western culture for sake of say. However in many countries consuming alcohol is not legal but in some which is quite common. However today we’re listing some of the major airline that restricted the on flight alcohol. While for many passengers, a glass of wine or a beer is part of relaxing flight journey.

Why Some Airline Restricted Alcohol?

The reason is so obvious that majority of the airline that restricted or prohibited the alcohol on their airline are based in the middle east which are based further east across asia. Middle east are densely populated with muslim countries where not just on airline but on the main land too the alcohol is restricted.

1. Air Arabia

Air Arabia is an Emirati low-cost airline with its head office in the A1 Building Sharjah Freight Center, Sharjah International Airport. This airline is currently operating on 170 destination Air Arabia does not serve alcoholic beverages on its flights.

2. EgyptAir

Egyptair is the state-owned flag carrier of Egypt. The airline is headquartered at Cairo International Airport, its main hub, operating scheduled passenger and freight services to more than 75 destinations. The flag carrier Egyptair doesn’t sell alcohol on flights. However, it doesn’t mean that it completely prohibited. You can always ask for serve to your personal drink on flight.

3. Iran Air

The Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran, branded as Iran Air, is the flag carrier of Iran, which is headquartered at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran. As of 2018, it operates scheduled services to 71 destinations in Asia and Europe. On this Airline the Alcohol is completely legally prohibited for Muslim Iranians since 1979. Due their internal religious affairs the airline comes in strong stance thus no offering.

4. Iraqi Air


the second oldest airline in the Middle East. Iraqi Airways operates domestic and regional service. Its main base is Baghdad International Airport. Iraqi Airways is one of the few airlines that don’t serve alcoholic beverages on their flights.

5. Kuwait Airways


Kuwait Airways is the national carrier of Kuwait, with its head office on the grounds of Kuwait International Airport, Al Farwaniyah Governorate. According to the Kuwait Airways official you can NOT take alcohol in your hand luggage OR in your checked-in baggage.

6. Pakistan International Airlines


Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) does not serve alcohol on board or even allow its passengers to consume it due to the Islamic Law (Shariah). However, passengers are allowed to carry along their own liquors.

7. Royal Brunei Airline


On flight Royal Brunei does not serve alcoholic beverages on board its flights. Non-Muslim passengers are however, permitted to bring along their own alcohol for consumption on board. 

8. Saudi AirLines

As a strict Muslim country, it is illegal to produce, import, or consume alcohol in Saudi Arabia. As expected, Saudi Arabian Airlines is also completely dry, with alcohol not served or permitted to be brought on board any of its flights.
