India Bound Aprilia RS 457 Breaks Cover

Following a series of teasers, Aprilia has revealed the RS 457 faired supersport. The motorcycle has already been sighted testing several times in India, implying that it would be available in the country in the coming months.

The Aprilia RS 457 will face competition in India from the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the future Yamaha YZF-R3. It was unveiled in its home country prior of the Misano MotoGP event, and it is aimed at the European A2-license market. The sports bike is priced far higher than the entry-level Tuono and features a 457 cc parallel twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a DOHC (Double Over Head Cam) arrangement. It has a maximum power output of 47 horsepower.

When it arrives in India, the Aprilia RS 457 is estimated to cost roughly Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). The design is significantly influenced by the larger RS 660 and Aprilia’s MotoGP program, with the powerplant sitting as a stressed element within the lightweight aluminum alloy frame. The Italian firm intends to go worldwide with the RS 457, aiming for significant volume sales.
